Newsletter from January 2023

Heydour with Aisby and Oasby Parish Council
Annual Chair’s Newsletter 2022/3

Welcome to the 2022/3 newsletter. The year has been eventful again and councillors have been active maintaining parish facilities. The following is a list of work done

22 planning meetings have been held to consider and where appropriate connect about plans to SKDC. Earlier in the year meetings were being held every 2 weeks in order to deal promptly with applications.

Council have reviewed spending for the year and agreed a budget for 2023/4. This has to be done in January and the precept for the year remains at £5000. It is around 10 years now that the PC have worked to hold the costs down and not asked for an increase.

The playground has been maintained after inspection by ROSPA. Although the kit has been in place for some years now, the PC consider that it is good for at least the next five years with modest maintenance spending.

We have taken advantage of the SKDC Big Clean team. They have helped with cleaning up leaf ridden paths. The PC has agreed to tender for some work in Oasby to tidy up the footpath through the village and pay for regular cleaning of bus stops.

Provision has been made for the cleaning and oiling of benches at Lime Cottage Oasby, Aisby bus stop, the playground and the John Evans memorial bench on the Millennium Green.

A two yearly inspection has been made on the two large old sycamores situated by the old village green in Aisby. One of them has a small area of fungal growth in the trunk but has been registered as safe. A 1902 photograph of Aisby shows the trees in place then.

The PC has agreed to grass cutting and some verge maintenance. Trees around the playground have been trimmed this year and a request for quotes is being issued to replace the three Oasby village signs, all of which are at a jaunty angle.

The PC joined in with a TEAMS meeting along with other local PCs to meet and discuss local crime issues. Speeding was discussed and residents might be interested in seeing the results of a radar survey carried out in June. These are posted on the front page of our website under the heading “Speed (Archer) Surveys”. The major issue this year seems to have been vehicle and trailer theft. Several vehicles have disappeared. For those who wish to protect against the loss of a modern vehicle with electronic locking devices the police have suggested that owners might like to carry out a web search for a Faraday Bag which insulates the device from unwanted attacks. Chief Inspector Jon Shield has taken over command of this area.

Web development continues and our clerk Rowena is working to improve the organisation and content. At https://heydour-aisby-oasby.parish.lincolnshire.gov.uk/ you can find many useful sources including how to report potholes, defective lighting etc.

PC meetings this year are planned for Tuesday 14 March 2023. The Annual Public Meeting is on 16  May 2023 at 6pm. The PC wish to encourage residents to come to join us and would welcome enquiries from residents on how to become a parish councillor.

Finally. The Parish Council wishes to welcome new residents to the parish and hope to see some of you at our meetings.
